About The Book
About Four Seconds from Boston
What would you be able to do in four seconds? Tie your shoes? Unwrap a present? Walk across a room? Could you live a lifetime in four seconds? Reading this sentence at a comfortable pace should take just about four seconds.
As an athlete I had accomplished so much in my lifetime. Having reached my forties I was able to accomplish what was one of the pinnacle moments of my athletic career and I began to look back on that quest of reaching the Boston Marathon. I began to compare how that accomplishment stacked up against other accomplishments in my life. It was fun reflecting back on what I deemed to be my “signature” moments, some of which dated back to my formative years.
For a brief moment in time I was at the top of the sporting universe; a Boston Marathoner. I had seized the opportunity to capitalize on a short window of time in my life to train hard and accomplish something that I could carry with me for the rest of my life and something nobody would ever be able to take away from me.
Four Seconds from Boston looks at the journey that took me to the top of the mountain. Along the way there were many trials and tribulations but in the end what followed was a path to self-discovery unlike anything else in my life. What will you do with your next four seconds?
This website was initially created for two reasons. First, to market my book but also to be a living document of training for the 40th Marine Corps Marathon. The race was run on Sunday, October 25, 2015. You can follow my training through daily blog posts by clicking the Training Blog link above. Follow along as the book continues right here and formally finishes with the Marine Corps Marathon in October. Purchase the book to find out the prequel and the rest of the story.

Vince,
Our wives spent time together before they ran the MCM 10K while we prepared for the marathon. I hope your wife was pleased with her run.
They spoke of your book and something tells me I will find it under my Christmas tree this year!
I just checked out your web site and and skimmed a few blogs and I can’t wait to take the time to read it in full – you have a gift for writing!

Congrats Vince. Maybe if you get me more info I can check to see if the book can be sold at my sisters B&N store in Altoona.

That would be great Mike. If you can email me some information if you talk to her. I’d love to be able to talk with her.

Hey Vin, good to see that you decided to write the book. When we talked many years ago and we talked about publishing, I thought for sure that you had a winner with your idea. Hope it goes well. Good luck.

You were instrumental. Your talk was the spark. Almost to the finish line on this thing! Thanks.

Vince, Ran across your page by accident. I’m running my first Full Marathon, also The Marine Corp! I figured I better do it before I’m too old. I’ll watch your log for guidance and inspiration of an old pro! Congrats on Boston. Dave

Old? Pro? I’ll take “somewhat experienced”. Thanks for stumbling onto the site. Any help or offer of advice I’d be glad to help if I can.

Vince, you never cease to amaze me. I’m happy for you but selfishly sad you’re not as nearby as you once we’re. I look forward to your book, your blog, and hopefully getting together again soon. Take care
